Social Gathering Event
Corporate Fundraising Champion (Volunteer)

Location: Flexible (remote and within the local community)

Time Commitment: Approx. 2–3 days per month

Reports to: Trustees

Role Overview

Our Corporate Fundraising Champion plays a vital role in helping us secure ongoing support from local businesses to fund the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of stray dogs.

This is a people-focused role centred around building relationships and starting conversations. You’ll reach out to local companies—by phone, email, or in person—to introduce the rescue, share our story, and explore ways they can support us. This could include regular sponsorship, one-off donations, or getting involved in fundraising activities.

We’re not looking for someone “salesy”—but we do need someone confident, friendly, and willing to ask for support. If you’re comfortable chatting to new people, enjoy making connections, and believe in the work we do, you’ll thrive in this role.

You’ll work independently, managing your own outreach, while staying connected with our trustees to share progress, ideas, and any support you need. This role offers real impact—building regular funding streams that help keep the rescue running and allow us to plan for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively reach out to local businesses to introduce the rescue and its work

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with potential and existing supporters

  • Seek opportunities for regular sponsorship, donations, or fundraising partnerships

  • Represent the rescue in a professional, friendly, and passionate way

  • Clearly communicate the aims, values, and impact of the rescue

  • Keep simple records of outreach, conversations, and outcomes

  • Provide regular updates to trustees on progress, successes, and challenges

  • Work with the team to identify new ideas or opportunities for corporate support

What We’re Looking For
  • Confident and personable, with the “gift of the gab” and a friendly approach

  • Comfortable reaching out to new people and starting conversations

  • Reliable and committed to supporting the rescue’s mission

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Positive, proactive, and not afraid to ask for support

  • Organised enough to track conversations and follow up where needed

  • Passionate about animal welfare and making a difference

Desirable (But Not Essential)
  • Experience in sales, fundraising, or customer-facing roles

  • Experience working with or approaching businesses

  • Confidence speaking about a cause or representing an organisation

  • Basic admin or tracking skills (e.g. keeping notes of contacts and outcomes)

Additional Information

This is a flexible role that can fit around your schedule, with most outreach able to be done remotely or within your local area. Occasional in-person visits to businesses may be beneficial but are not essential.

Full guidance will be provided, including key information about the rescue and how to approach conversations. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of this role and grow it over time, helping to build lasting relationships that support the rescue long-term.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Regular support from businesses helps us provide consistent care, plan ahead, and say “yes” to more dogs in need. In this role, every conversation you start has the potential to make a lasting difference.

Road Trip
Kennel-Free Rescue Support

On-Site Care Team (Volunteer)

Location: Ayr Rescue Centre (on-site only)

Time Commitment: Minimum 1 x 4-hour shift per week (Monday - Friday 10-4pm and –Saturday, 10am–2pm)

Reports to: Centre Manager

Role Overview

Our Kennel-Free Rescue Support Volunteers are a vital part of our on-site team, helping us maintain a safe, clean, and well-managed environment for dogs living in carefully managed social groups.

Unlike traditional rescues, our dogs are not kept in individual kennels. Instead, they live in structured, monitored social groups, which requires a highly responsible and safety-conscious approach from everyone on site.

This role is not simply about spending time with dogs—it is about supporting a complex, carefully managed rescue environment where structure, cleanliness, and strict adherence to guidance are essential.

You will work closely with the Centre Manager and experienced team members to ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standard. Your role will evolve over time, starting with non-dog-contact tasks and gradually progressing to supervised interaction once you are fully familiar with the dogs, systems, and safety procedures.

This is a physically active, team-based role that requires reliability, confidence, and a strong understanding of boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain extremely high standards of cleanliness across rescue facilities and shared spaces

  • Clean and sanitise areas used by dogs in line with strict hygiene protocols

  • Support preparation and maintenance of living environments for social dog groups

  • Carry out non-dog-contact duties during initial training phase (e.g. cleaning non-dog areas, sorting donations, general site upkeep)

  • Follow all safety procedures and restricted area rules at all times

  • Work closely with the Centre Manager and follow instructions precisely

  • Assist with general site upkeep, laundry, waste management, and organisation

  • Gradually support supervised dog-related tasks once fully inducted and approved

  • Act as a calm, responsible presence within a structured rescue environment

  • Be a positive and reliable member of the on-site volunteer team

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with dogs beyond basic ownership (e.g. rescue, training, handling, or similar environments)

  • High standards of cleanliness and comfort with hands-on, sometimes dirty work

  • Strong ability to follow instructions exactly and respect boundaries

  • Confidence around dogs, with an understanding that safety and structure come first

  • Reliable, committed, and able to attend at least one 4-hour shift per week

  • Team player with a flexible and positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn and adapt within a structured rescue environment

  • Respect for site rules, restricted areas, and safety procedures

Important Requirements

  • Minimum commitment: 1 x 4-hour shift per week (Mon–Sat, 10am–4pm)

  • Must follow strict on-site safety and access protocols

  • Must be comfortable starting with no direct dog contact during training phase

  • Must understand that progression to dog interaction is gradual and earned through trust, consistency, and training

  • Must be willing to work under direction of the Centre Manager at all times

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience in rescue environments or working with groups of dogs

  • Understanding of dog behaviour, body language, or socialisation

  • Experience in structured care, animal welfare, or similar hands-on roles

  • Previous volunteering in high-responsibility environments

Additional Information

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a kennel-free rescue environment where dogs live in carefully managed social groups rather than traditional kennel systems.

Because of this, safety, structure, and consistency are absolutely essential. Volunteers must be willing to respect boundaries, follow instructions at all times, and understand that not all areas of the rescue are accessible to everyone.

While this is a serious and responsibility-led role, it is also incredibly rewarding. Volunteers become a key part of each dog’s journey—helping prepare them for stability, confidence, and ultimately rehoming.

We are a supportive, dedicated team who rely heavily on our on-site volunteers to keep the rescue running safely and effectively.

Why Volunteer With Us?

You won’t just be helping clean a space—you’ll be helping create a safe, structured environment where dogs can learn to trust, socialise, and prepare for their forever homes.

Every shift you do directly contributes to the wellbeing, stability, and future of our dogs.
